Recorder (On-call, Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, Hawai‘i Island)

Pay Range: $19/hr - $20/hr

Job Summary:

The Recorder is responsible for professional and efficient note taking to document an accurate group memory of ‘Ohana Conferences and Youth Circles. Recorders work as a part of a diverse and supportive field staff team to promote a positive and safe atmosphere for the duration of conferences. ‘Ohana Conferences may include a wide variety of attendees including immediate and extended family members, social workers, community members and service providers. The Recorder’s work includes, but is not limited to, ensuring materials, food and water are available prior to conferences starting, preconference phone calls, accurate documentation of critical information, verifying/clarifying legal status and timelines and report writing.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years related experience and/or training. Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle abstract, and access to an insured vehicle. Must maintain an ethical, responsible and professional attitude and demeanor under all circumstances in person, by phone, e-mail and correspondence, in order to effectively and efficiently engage and maintain working relationships with families, professionals and youth who are undergoing complex and crisis situations. Individual with experience working with families whose children have been harmed or threatened with harm and in facilitation and/or mediation, preferred. Individual with culturally relevant training and/or experience specific to the community served, preferred. Team player with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and maturity. Committed to quality and performance improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in person and on the phone are required for this position. Ability to be proficient with computer use including keyboarding, word processing, and database manipulation. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are required. Successful criminal and child abuse and neglect background clearance as required by state regulations for those who work with children and families in the Child Welfare System.
